ACKERBAU

The farm thinks and acts according to the categories of sustainable agriculture, in which aesthetics and socio-political aspects also have their place.

The farm is a pioneer of biodynamic agriculture and has been a DEMETER member since 1984.

History

The farm was acquired by the Piatti family in 1834 as part of the Loosdorf estate. The farm was a typical estate management with changing focuses, such as farming, livestock farming and plant breeding.

In 1982, Alfons Piatti converted the entire farm to bio-dynamic farming.

Since then, agriculture and forestry have been practiced according to biodynamic guidelines on around 600 hectares. A herd of around 60 cattle also belongs to the farm and supplies manure compost as fertilizer for the crops.

Philosophy

Agriculture has always been understood in a wider context. On the one hand, philosophically and spiritually as the basis of life for humans and animals as well as the source and guardian of all living. On the other hand, geographically by initiating and accompanying agricultural projects.

The aim is to produce high-quality food for body, mind and soul.

The focus here is on building up permanent humus in the soil with the associated soil fertility, as well as promoting climate protection.
