Loosdorf Castle was originally built as a fortress in the Middle Ages and was owned by a number of noble families.
In the course of the 30 Years' War, the castle was extensively destroyed by a massive fire. The castle owes its present form to the Princes of Liechtenstein.
Due to its centuries-long history, the castle shows elements of both the Middle Ages, Classicism and the Renaissance. In 1834, the Piatti family acquired Loosdorf Castle.
