Shards

The porcelain collection consists of antique Japanese, Chinese and European pieces.

However, this was almost completely destroyed by the Soviet army in the course of the 2nd World War.

Now these porcelain shards are exhibited in the museum as a contemporary witness of the Second World War.

State rooms

Two styles are combined in the furniture and décor of the exceptionally well-preserved state rooms from around 1800 - the clear forms of the Empire and the impressive motifs of the "garden romanticism", which is rare in Austria.

The paintings on the walls and the wood panelling are in their original state, as is the French silk wallpaper in the Grand Salon.

The balcony of the library offers an unforgettable view far beyond the castle grounds into the hilly landscape of the Weinviertel.

Pewter figures

In the course of his life, Count and Marquis Ferdinand von Piatti collected the impressive number of around 14,000 pewter figures.

Loosdorf Castle is thus in possession of one of the largest private collections in Austria.

The meticulously crafted small figures are presented in dioramas that thematise historical events and scenes.

A closer look at the showcases reveals a variety of lovingly assembled details.
