Piatti family

The family is an old Italian aristocratic family ("Marquese"), first mentioned in documents in the 11th century.

For centuries, they were based in northern Italy, and in the course of the Seven Years' War, the family held high government offices at the Saxon court in Dresden.

In 1834 the dominion of Loosdorf was acquired and a short time later the family was additionally elevated to the rank of Austrian counts by Emperor Ferdinand I.

Since 1834, the family has run an agricultural and forestry business around Loosdorf Castle.
